Frequently asked questions
What counts as a "standard update"?
A standard update is a small, well-defined change — the kind of thing that takes about 15 minutes to make because the content already exists and the change doesn't require new design decisions. Standard updates include:
- Text or image swaps, where you supply the replacement text or image
- Hours, address, phone number, staff, or service-detail changes
- Updating an existing link
- Minor changes to where a form's submissions get sent
What's not covered as a standard update?
The following are out of scope for standard updates — they're real work with their own scope and timeline, not a quick edit:
- ✕New page design or copywriting
- ✕Branding or logo work
- ✕Photography
- ✕Custom code or custom functionality
- ✕Third-party integrations
- ✕Ecommerce, booking, or database functionality
- ✕SEO strategy work (as opposed to the basic SEO foundation included at launch)
If what you need falls into one of these, tell us anyway — we'll scope it separately, including a referral to Aleph Consulting where that's the better fit.
How does the included update year work?
- It runs 12 consecutive months starting from your launch date.
- One active update request at a time — submit the next one once the current one is complete.
- Unused update capacity has no cash value and doesn't roll over or bank up.
What happens when the included year ends?
At the end of your included 12-month update year, standard updates continue under one of our ongoing care plans (see Pricing) — you're not required to sign up, but your site will stop receiving standard update service without an active plan. Final renewal pricing and process are still being finalized ahead of public launch, so treat current plan figures as a planning range, not a locked-in rate.
Do you host the site?
Yes — managed hosting configuration and SSL are part of what's included at launch. Ongoing hosting is covered within the engagement for the included year, and continues as part of a care plan afterward.
Can I bring my own domain?
Yes. If you already own a domain, we connect it as part of the build. If you don't have one yet, we'll help you get one registered before we connect it.
What if I need more than the standard 5 pages, or custom functionality?
Five Up Essential is built around one approved template and up to 5 standard pages with no custom application functionality — that's what keeps the price and timeline predictable. If your business needs more than that, let us know on the qualification form and we'll scope it as a separate project, including a referral to Aleph Consulting for custom or larger-scope work.
